Oh Longfellow, you wrote well, fellow

A Psalm of Life

 by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Tell me not in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.

Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou are, to dust thou returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul
.

Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each tomorrow
Find us farther than today
.

Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.

In the world's broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!

Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!

Act, - act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o'erhead!

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sand of time;

Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solenm main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us then be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

KONY 2012

throwback to spring of this year: KONY 2012
This movement was a massive social media fad that quickly diminished into near oblivion in the minds of a majority of supporters due to some critics claiming it was a scam. It's not.
Joseph Kony is alive and well.
His atrocities and crimes against human dignity are piling up day by day.
Repercussions of his actions have psychologically damaged, physically scarred, and killed thousands of people.
This must stop.
Why?

The fight for human dignity must start somewhere.
Why not here?
It must start sometime.
Why not now?

We have become so bad, as a generation, at one moment being the biggest advocates for a cause and the next dropping it like yesterday's trash.
Let's stop that.
Let's become parts of something larger than ourselves.
Let go of our selfish desires and laziness and work for change, for something that will bring peace and BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS to others.
Isn't that a cause worth fighting for?

This cause is one place to start. It's easy.
On November 17, 2012 people from ALL OVER THE WORLD
are called to come to Washington DC.
Here there will be a gathering of delegates from all over the world including the United Nations, African Union, European Union, and U.S and we will implore them to fulfill the promises they made earlier in the spring with KONY was in the spotlight and pressure skyrocketed from the civilians for our leaders to take a stand.

The time is now.
LET'S MOVE.

I'm just an individual who found a way to address a call and am trying to share that.

the future awaits...

Teens today don't realize something..
WE ARE THE FUTURE.
These ideas that we are learning now in school and formulating when we have intense conversations
with our other friends
will shape the IDEAS that we will LIVE BY
in a year or two.
how FrIGhtEnInG!
I'M NOT READY
and i can't think of a single person whom i would deem ready for such major responsibilities..
I can think of people who I know are capable
but the maturity isn't there
c'est la vie!
but the thing is, no matter if we're not ready now, there will come a time when we are ready
or maybe not
but we have to rise to the responsibilities, the duties we are called to.

here is a poem I wrote:

The Future

We will be the doctors,
the surgeons who may save your life
We will be the mothers and fathers,
the  loving husbands and wives
We will be the teachers,
who help all children learn
We will be the principals,
hopefully not too stern.
We will be the lawyers,
who fight valiantly for your case.
We will be the athletes,
entertaining you with our game and race
We will be singers,
the actresses and musicians
We will be the activists,
champions of a cause,
spreading love through our many missions.
We will be the soldiers,
the ones fighting for your rights.
We will be the policemen,
the firemen,
those protecting you through the night.
We will be your priests,
guiding and counseling you through all

We will be who you you turn to in need
we're your future, it's guaranteed.
